Position Overview
The Application Support Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the agencies’ application support needs. The Specialist will analyze system requirements to ensure effective integration with current and future systems/processes while working across multiple departments to ensure an optimal end-user experience. The specialist will have a strong knowledge of database management and be able to work with multiple vendors to troubleshoot application issues. The specialist will have vision in order to proactively work with implementation teams to provide consensus based enterprise solutions that are scalable, adaptable, and in synchronization with the ever-changing business needs of the agency.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions
 Learn and become fluent in all of the Organization’s end-user applications.
 Assist in identifying, researching, presenting and implementing applications that meet the unmet technology needs across the organization.
 Provide group or individualized support and training on applications to end users.
 Scheduling, maintenance and data entry of information into related software applications.
 Work as liaison and partner with the Information Technology team to ensure an optimal environment is maintained for the end user.
 Provide optimization of information management approaches through an understanding of evolving business needs and technology capabilities.
 Provides SQL Coding and Database Support for a cross section of agency Software Applications.

 Identifies and implements opportunities to improve systems, increase volume, re-align and redesign work processes to achieve efficiency, financial and quality goals.
 Complete necessary reports as requested by Management and submit within required timeframes.
 Author all technical software guides for the end users including Direct Support Professionals, Nurses, Management, and Leadership.

 Serve as a software administrator across multiple platforms granting and terminating access, troubleshooting various issues with developers and the like.
 Conduct quality assurance testing upon completion of development enhancement, customization, mapping, and third party system integration.

 

Duties and Responsibilities
 Collaborates with organizational leadership to establish departmental/division goals, measures progress toward priority goals and evaluates results to ensure that departmental and organizational objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the organization from a health information perspective.
 Create and support productive, professional and collaborative work environment with all operating divisions to support achievement of strategic goals.
 Maintains knowledge of agency and industry trends and recommends effective implementation strategies and solutions.
 Serves as a representative for the division, department or agency in the absence of the Management or as assigned.
 Works with Management and/or other agency departments towards understanding MCO data and informational requirements in order to develop capacity for health records to pull that data.
 Always communicate in a respectful manner with all people including the people we support, supervisors, other valued team members, and members of the community.
 Coordinate, support, attend and participate in all required events/ meetings/ reviews/ committees, including ones outside of standard working hours.
 Complete all required trainings and stay in compliance.
 Maintain the confidentiality of any information relating to the department, individuals and employees of the organization.
 Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education, Work Experience, and Competencies
 Associates Degree required.
 Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience working in an IT/Health Information Management role.
 Relevant certification in the field preferred.
 Must poses problem solving, leadership, and team building skills.
 Must be efficient, well organized, and have excellent communication skills.
 Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential

 

Physical Demands
 Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours).
 Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
 Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
 Employee is required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or stand on a stool as needed.
 Employee is required to be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
