Under the supervision of the Property Director – Residential, the Electrician will maintain assigned tasks: by ensuring the electrical components of all residences are maintained in proper working order. The electrician will ensure all work is done according to proper codes and specifications. Electrician will periodically inspect and make modifications to electrical systems as necessary and trouble shoot problems as they arise to keep sites running smoothly and safely. The Electrician is expected to follow employee safety standards by adhering to both environmental and occupational safety and health administration (OSHA).

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Install, calibrate, upgrade, and maintain all on site electrical components, wiring, lighting, and electrical control systems in compliance with provided standards and specifications.
  • Perform routine testing of electrical systems and equipment, repairing and replacing, as necessary.
  • Ensure optimal functioning of all electrical systems and equipment.
  • Adhere to all of the National Electrical Codes and OSHA safety standards.
  • Ensure that all required documentation is completed /processed appropriately and in a timely manner

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Addresses emergency electrical situations as they occur in the residences.
  • Provides coverage in emergency situations until job is completed
  • Observes agency policy and procedures for building security and identification of authorized personnel
  • Ensures the safety of all consumers/employees present at the work site
  • Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
  • Reports all safety violations to the Property Director for Residences
  • Possesses familiarity with the function and makeup of the agency alarm system
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with others to describe the problem and solution involved in particular electrical requests
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education, Work Experience, and Competencies

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid NYS electrician’s license.
  • Certificate of Electricians trade or technical school program or completion of electrical apprenticeship
  • Experience in electrical/maintenance industry preferred
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and satisfy criteria to be a driver for FREE
  • Must be efficient, well organized, and have excellent communication skills
  • Ability to respond safely and calmly to emergency requests

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Mental Demands

This position requires travel, working in various temperatures and distractions (noise, odor, etc.).

  • Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours)
  • Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Employee is required to reach with hands and arms
  • Employee is required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or stand on a stool as needed

Employee is required to be able to lift and carry 25 pounds at a time

USD $ 27.50/Hr - $29.48/Hr
