POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Entitlements, the Collections Specialist will work in collaboration with the housing and accounting team to monitor and address program fees and rental arrears for individuals supported in FREE’s residential programs. The Collections Specialist will assist in implementing agency policies and procedures regarding rent, program fees, arrears and debt strategy.

Responsibilities

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Monitors monthly rental fees and payments for all individuals in residential programs.
• Provides monthly compliance and other reports, as needed, to the housing team.
• Produces monthly customer invoices and statements.
• Tracks payment plans compliance.
• Monitors and reviews the debt strategy for individuals in the residential programs in conjunction with the housing teams and entitlements specialists.
• Establishes tracking systems for all rent arrears and notices.
• Frequently interacts with residents, housing operations support, and other relevant stakeholders regarding rental fee charges and arrears balances.
• Composes, types, and distributes meeting notes, routine correspondence, and reports.
• Ensures that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is completed and processed accurately, completely, and in a timely manner, meeting established quality and compliance thresholds.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
• Education:
o High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Experience:
o Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
o Experience in customer statement preparation and/or processing preferred
• Specialized Training, Licenses, Certifications:
o Not required, training will be provided upon hire as needed
• Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
o Computer literacy required; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
o Must be efficient, well organized, and have excellent communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
o Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is performed in-person, in a standard office setting.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours).
• Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax and filing cabinets.
• Employee is required to reach with hands and arms.
• Employee might be required to lift/move light items.

***************************** The Pay Range for this job is $21.63 - $23.56. This range is based on what FREE reasonably believes it will pay an employee as for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors, including, but not limited to, an individual’s experience, qualifications, services provided, geographic location, relevant skills, and other factors permitted under federal, state, and local laws.
