  • Overview

    Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, the Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall management and clinical supervision of Nursing personnel working within 24 hour supervised group homes.  The Director of Nursing works collaboratively with the all Associate Directors of Nursing and is responsible for the development of management strategies to meet priority goals.  This position is a primary contributor to the development of the organizations strategic plan. The Director of Nursing will work in partnership with organization personnel to ensure the highest quality of integrated health and continuity of care to the people supported across the network.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure adequate nursing oversight is provided to the individual’s supported across the network based on individual healthcare needs and in accordance with state and federal regulations.
    • Confirm that all nursing team members receive training on internal policies/protocols as well as relevant state and federal regulations; participate in 24/7 on call coverage and ensure that emergency situations are addressed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
    • Provide necessary support to assigned locations/programs during a crisis.
    • Participation in the formulation of health care policies and procedures as well as the design and implementation of health care professional development curriculum.

    Qualifications

    • NYS RN License and BSN required (Master’s Degree or Doctorate preferred).
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in nursing/health care management required.
    • Experience working directly with persons with developmental disabilities, mental health and/or other intellectual disabilities preferred.
    • Demonstrated competency in all state, local, federal regulations and agency policies relevant to the operation of the respective division.
    • Familiarity with OPWDD, OMH, DOH and other state government entities required to sufficiently operate the respective division.
    • Ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and meet deadlines.
    • Willingness to assume 24/7 on call responsibility.
