  • Overview

    Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Community Development, Project Manager will be part of the Community Development team and will oversee the environmental modifications and other projects as assigned. Environmental Modifications (E-Mods) are internal and externa physical adaptations to the home, which are necessary to ensure the health, welfare and safety of those served by FREE, Inc. Through the Home and Community Based Waiver (HCBS), New York State OPWDD provides funds to construct adaptations to homes which can increase or maintain an individual’s ability to live at home with independence. These Environmental Modifications (E-Mods) can include (but not limited to) such projects as the construction of ramps, lifts, hand rails, bathroom modifications (such as roll-in showers) and van adaptations. These modifications and other assigned projects will be coordinated in their entirety by the Project Manager according to agency, state and local requirements.


    The Project Manager serves as part of the Community Development team, primary function includes:

      • Organizing and coordinating all aspects of environment modifications (EMOD’s).
      • Oversee the day to day operations of the EMOD’s for the agency.
      • Knowledge of basic construction jobs and architect plans.
      • Maintain good communication with numerous outside parties.
      • Collaborate with all divisions to provide necessary support for projects
      • Oversee that the Contractor that is secured to complete the project is following the scope of work as expected.
      • Working collaboratively with subcontractors, vendors, person(s) served, their families and other involved parties.
      • Promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.
      • Maximizing the use of internal resources by interfacing with other colleagues and departments to ensure effective and efficient oversight of the projects.
      • Responsible to complete all projects assigned within state time frames.
      • Lead and participate in project planning meetings to ensure a common vision relevant to the assigned project/s.
      • Complete other relevant projects as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Community Development
      • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.




    • A Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or an equivalent combination of training and professional experience required.
    • Five years of professional experience in related field of construction management.
    • Strong oral and communication skills.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Ability to formulate and sustain positive working relationships with colleagues.
    • Ability to balance multiple projects, complex situations and meet the deadlines.
    • Ability to communicate proficiently
    • Ability to problem solve and think strategically
    • Strong Financial Management skills
