  • Overview

    Under the supervision of the Senior Supported Employment Program Coordinator, the Employment Specialist will be trained to provide direct and personal adjustment services for all individuals are served to meet all current guidelines of OPWDD, OMH and ACCES-VR. Overall job duties include: Providing direct services to OPWDD, OMH and Acces-VR program participants with regards to job development, job coaching, skills training, assessment, counseling, intervention, advocacy case management and documentation. Creating and maintaining employer contacts in the community are also required along with these other services to maintain the employment of participating individuals.  

     

    Responsibilities

    • Required work schedule is Monday to Sunday 37.5 hours per week flexible. Schedule is dependent upon the needs of all program participants served.Schedule may include early hours, evening hours and weekends.  
    • This job operates partly in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Employee is expected to have basic intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (WORD, OUTLOOK and EXCEL). 
    • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment.

     

     

    Qualifications

     

    • High School Diploma Required; Associates /Bachelor’s Degree highly desired  
    • At least 6 months relevant work experience required, previous work experience with individuals served by OPWDD/ ACCES- VR, mental health population and students highly desired.
    • Valid NYS Driver’s License and meets the requirements to be an agency driver. Employee must possess a clean and valid driver’s license and must be able to operate own vehicle between job sites. Essential driving job functions includes utilizing company vehicle to transport persons served to and from interviews, job sites, assessment sites etc... If the company vehicle becomes unavailable at any time, candidate must feel comfortable with transporting individuals in personal vehicle if necessary.                      
    • Willingness and ability to be on call
