  • Overview

    Under the supervision of the Vocational Services Supervisor, the Employment Specialist is responsible for the coordination and direct provision of employment services to individuals with disabilities within Skills’ vocational programs.  The Employment Specialist will assist individuals to identify realistic vocational goals, and is responsible for developing employment opportunities to support their direct placement in community-based positions.  In addition, job coaching, assessment and counseling supports are provided to people during initial phases of work to support their training and acclimation to new jobs.

    • Assist individuals with disabilities to identify realistic vocational goals based on personal preferences, experience, education and aptitude. 
    • Develop community-based employment opportunities for people through regular employer contacts, public relations and community interaction.
    • Provide individualized, ongoing and intensive job coaching on and off the job site for newly employed individuals.
    • Establish positive working relations with community employers to address concerns and progress of consumers.
    • Ensure all required documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.




    • High School Diploma/GED required, Associate’s Degree preferred
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office required
    • Willingness and ability to be on call
    • Valid NYS Driver’s License and meets the requirements to be an agency driver
